Downing Sustainable Investment
(DSI)

Supporting charities on their journey to net zero through investments in renewable energy initiatives, achieving a financial return whilst making a positive environmental impact.

Why invest in renewable energy?

Investments in renewable energy projects can provide charities with regular income through bespoke structures unique to them that offer low risk and high return. At Downing, we also provide the key performance indicators of our assets, such as renewable energy production levels, enabling charities to engage with their donors and beneficiaries about the contributions being made through their investments. Our renewable energy assets have a demonstrable social impact as they create jobs and contribute to the UK's Net Zero targets.

Charity investment case study

Human Capability Foundation (HCF) is a grant-making foundation in the UK that supports organisations working for the rights of marginalised communities. In 2022, we created a bespoke investment vehicle for the HCF to invest in renewable energy assets. The income generated by these long-term holdings in core renewables is intended to support some of the grants the HCF plans to make in the future.
