In 2019, Downing funds acquired development rights for a 50MW transmission connected energy storage asset in Southampton, UK. The asset is to be directly connected to National Grid’s transmission network.
The innovative project is under construction, with commissioning expected in Q1 2021. In the future, it is anticipated that the project’s connection capacity could be further utilized for a private wire network that would support low carbon transport.
Arun Construction Services Limited are providing site construction services. They are a UK based firm with significant solar and storage experience. An industry leading supplier has been selected to provide the battery storage system.
Asset management is performed in-house by Downing.
